Stunningly picturesque fortress guarding the narrow entrance to the Dart estuary. Run by English heritage.

The castle is actually an old artillery fort. Museum is worth visiting if you like to learn about cannons and defence of the river dart region.

Where Dartmouth meets the sea. Take a camera with you, and get the boat back.

Can be done by foot. From Dartmouth, go up the stairs at the Bayard's Cove Inn (lower ferry), turn left twice and follow the road. Walks towards castle can be done by following upper and lower paths.

Amazing view, lovely coffee shop and there is a nice little ferry to take you into the town.
