Our Bhutanese guides spoke very good English🏆 English is the language of instruction throughout junior & high school. Dzongkha (Bhutanese) is a compulsory subject. Source: Wikipedia

“Bhutan” translates to “Land of the Thunder Dragon.” It earned the nickname because of the fierce storms that often roll in from the Himalayas. Source: WWF. Photo: Drukair plane interior

At the departure gates, there is a kiosk with limited number of USB charging points & several power points (u may need a travel adapter)

Free WiFi options at the airport. Besides the official airport wifi (DoAT - Dept of Airport Transport), there are also BT (Bhutan Telecom) & TashiCell (near gate 3)

Tourist SIM mobile data plans. While voice roaming works, we paid USD10 for 6GB from Bhutan Telecom (B-Mobile). Just after Customs & before the security exit, the counters are prominent👍🏼

Quick check-in and security. Has some shops that take card for last-minute buys, coffee and free wifi.

Security check is incredibly quick, so is passport control. Hassle-free. If you're flying in, you need to declare and pay duty on all tobacco products.

If there were awards for beautiful airport surroundings, Paro, in Bhutan, would have a shelf full of trophies.
