My car always at terminal. Return process is slow due to location. Car hire excess is ridiculously high in Ireland - suggest getting a separate annual policy if you rent 2+ times per year.

As others have said, allow time for the rental place not being directly outside the airport. You have to wait for a free bus. A guy called Derek helped us and he was brilliant

With a preferred status, you get a car right from right across the airport instead of taking a shuttle. Same shuttle is unavoidable on the way back.

Don't rely on Avis Preferred here - more often than not your vehicle is not at the terminal and you need to take the shuttle. This ends up being a slow process so allow an extra hour at least.

Plan plenty of time for pickup and drop off as the shuttle takes forever...
